He arrived early and parked the car in the basement garage of this newly
built high rise - a first for him. He took the elevator to the 11th
floor, where his appointment was to be. This was an office building
where people dressed nicely, men in suit and women in beautiful dresses
– another first for him. He had always worked in the “belly of the
beast,” as it was known – the kitchen.
He found his way to the right office and was told by the secretary that
the boss was not back from lunch and offered him a cup of coffee while
he sat and waited. He was anxious and excited at the same time. He
looked very handsome in his suit as the women in the office gave him the
look of approval and smiled passing by.
Not long after, the boss arrived with another well-dressed elderly lady
talking and laughing, a good sign that he was happy and in a good mood -
no wonder as he later learned that the boss and the lady frequently
dined together and had a couple of martinis to relax. He stopped and
introduced himself as Mr. Bond and told him that he will be with him
shortly and went straight to his office for a while.
He was called in, and the interview went very well. Mr. Bond reviewed
his portfolio and liked his work, and to his surprised told him that he
is hired, and he doesn’t need to work for free. Instead, he’ll be paid
$2.50 an hour, and he could start working next Monday. Mr. Bond also
said that he was in luck and just in time as the girl who had the job
for the past few years went away to college, and that made it possible
for him to have the job. He thanked him and said goodbye and left the
building stunted. He not only had got a career in the field of graphic
art, but he was also getting paid! He couldn’t believe what just had
happened and
such good fortune it will turn out to be!
But
again, God
was watching over him. Once behind his wheel, he began to cry,
uncontrollably thanking God
for these much-needed blessings. This was a miracle, and he knew it.
God had
again saved him by granting him his much needed and desired wishes.
He stopped and bought a few roses for his girlfriend and sat and had a
cup of coffee at a coffee shop near her work, waiting to meet her after
work. He couldn’t wait to share the good news that she perhaps would be
surprised and happy to hear.
Once she got in the car, he gave her the roses and told her of his good
fortune. He sensed that although she was happy, she also shucked and
jealous as he did not only have gotten a job as a graphic artist, he was
getting paid a nickel more than she was. But never the less, they were
happy and went to dinner to celebrate the good news and
God’s
blessing.
He knew
God
was the sole reason for him to get through the day and even accepted the
car breakdown as
God’s
doing to get him to the right place and the right position to be. As if
he had made all of his appointments without the car trouble, it may not
have turned out as good as or the right job that it turned out to be.
He
believed that if his car didn't break down, he most likely would have
missed his eleven o'clock appointment since there was an hour's drive to
Mr. Bond's place, and his ten o'clock interview would not give him
enough time to get there. And most likely would have missed it,
especially if he had received a job offer from his first appointment.
So, God planned to get him to the Mr. Bond appointment, where he got his
life-changing career.
